THE BOYS

After our Capitol tour the rest of the time started in Virginia for the both of us. After the tour (see last post HERE) we headed back to Fairfax to get our apartment put together. Long story short, the apartment we were supposed to be in by ourselves, had no electricity and would have been a pain to make happen in a short 2 ½ weeks so we came up with another solution. I would move into the apartment that Garrett was already living in with 5 other guys. So Johnny moved downstairs so that I could be Garrett’s roommate now. We are very grateful that he did that for us! So as soon as we moved in we started cleaning up.

So for the next few weeks Garrett and I slept on 2 twin beds pushed together with 4 other male roommates. With 6 guys living in there before me it was in pretty rough and nasty shape. The bathrooms were disgusting. So that was the first job.  Clean the bathrooms so that I could shower and go to the bathroom.

Every morning Garrett and I would get up and play a little bit of tennis before Garrett had his meeting. Then I would run to the store while I had the car before they took off for the day. They would leave around 11 and wouldn’t get back until about 9 give or take. I would spend my days lying by the pool, reading, cleaning, and cooking. I had a little job cleaning the apartment, which was very nice because it kept me busy and occupied. Then every night I made dinner for Garrett, Justin, Garth, Bryan, Dallin, and Johnny. It was quite the task because it was so hard to guess how much to buy and to know how much they would eat.

Garrett always compliments the food I make but it was very nice because it was Garrett times 5. They were always very appreciative and enjoyed the things that I made.  I called my mom multiple times during the day just to ask about the dinner I was planning but it always turned out. Cooking for 6 might be easier than it is for just Garrett and I because there is no leftovers and I could make the whole recipe.

After dinner we would usually end up playing scum, rummikub, or skip-bo with everybody. It was the first night I was there and made dinner and then we played cards and they were all like “why haven’t we been doing this all summer? Of course when Hannah shows up we become a little family.” And that is what we were for 2 ½ weeks. These boys cracked me up constantly. The jokes, the sassiness, the wrestling, the accents they came up with, and everything in between. They were also very good for my self-esteem when it came to cooking! Another thing that I liked was that Justin really brought Garrett’s character out of him, which was funny to see.

Some of the funny lines I heard multiple times were:

Bryan would always say, “When (insert name, usually Justin or Garth) gets like this, just ignore him.” Or “when (insert name) acts like this, just ignore him.”

Justin would say when Bryan was being sassy or crabby, “Oh, here comes Bryan again.”

One day when coming from church Bryan and a few of the other guys were riding in the car with us they were arguing or something and Bryan told us that when they would argue as kids, his parents would be like “Garrett tell em.” Which is what I would say if I didn’t want to deal with it. So all the time Bryan would say, “Hannah tell em” or “Garrett tell em”

I flew out Saturday to head out there and on Friday night they went to a free Andy Grammer concert. Justin would say all the time, “It sucks you missed Andy Grammer by 1 day.” Thank you Justin for rubbing it in.

If Garth ever had a bad day and was crabby they would say, “Garth quite being a monster. Garth you’re being a monster.”

Frequently used words: chill, chillin, rn (right now),  etc

The week after I showed up they made a incentive to go paintballing. So one morning they took work off and went paintballing, I was just a spectator and photographer. Before they went they were all such big talkers and the energy that they had was pretty high. It was fun to watch them, and quite hilarious. Garrett and the boys in our apartment were very protective over me and threatened everyone by saying, “NO ONE hits Hannah, if anyone hits Hannah we all get a blank shot at you.” So I felt pretty safe.

Some of the other adventures we had with the boys was while Garth was in California we played scum for 3 hours straight, picked him up at the airport at 2 am, made him signs, and went to ihop afterwards.

The night before we left we had a family picture session and this is about how it went...

It was the most entertaining 2 ½ weeks and we ended up loving it. We played tennis, cards, swam, and everything else. We became a little family and we will always remember those fun times that we had. We love you boys!
