Our 2 Last Stops

While I was there for the few weeks and Garrett was still working we were still able to see a few sights and things that were on our list.

The first stop was Mount Vernon. It ended up being our favorite place we went in DC. We coughed up the $17 a piece to go inside George Washington’s home for 20 minutes. But it was SO worth it. The history in that place is insane. A lot of the pieces still in the home were there when George and Martha lived there, including the bed that he died in. It was just so cool to see some of the things that I have learned about in my classes up at school.

They also had an amazing museum that walked you through his life as a boy, with Martha, and everything in between.

Mount Vernon is located right on the Potomac River and has an amazing view. There were many different buildings that were part of their land. They had a place for everything.

George Washington was supposed to be buried in the heart of DC which is the star in the middle of the Capitol building but ended up being buried at Mount Vernon. Martha was buried next to him with 26 other family members later.

*Apparently everything was under construction while we were in DC*

Then the next weekend we stopped by the Washington, DC Temple. We were bummed that it was under construction and couldn’t go inside. But we walked around, took lots of pictures, and toured the visitor’s center that was incredible. Photo overload starts... now!

Because my Grandma is an amazing wreath decorator and everything in between she and my mom requested that we bring back some mongolia leaves (they are pretty sweet). We had the toughest time finding them because they are always in people's yards but we may or may not have found some right  outside the parking lot on the temple grounds.

*Hottie alert*

Although we made it to many of the sites that are to be seen in DC we didn't quite hit all of them. These were our 2 last stops and we were SO glad that we fit them in! This was an opportunity we probably won't ever have again and it was fun to explore and see so many new things together!
