Our Love Story

August 3, 2013 I went to the Singles Ward in Billings, MT like I had all summer. I sat down with my sister and looked around and noticed someone new. I immediately noticed how tan and attractive he was.

There was a Linger-Longer after church due to fast Sunday and I was lucky enough to end up sitting across the table from this cute guy I noticed earlier. His name was Garrett and he was here visiting his good high school friend David Lovato. We ate baked potatoes and said a few words to each other but I didn't think much about it because I knew I would probably never see him again.

The next weekend was August 9-11th and there was going to be a YSA conference in Powell. I was not planning on going because we were supposed to be going to Denver to see my Aunt Nicole and her family. I had the impression that I needed to go to this conference (I was secretly hoping this tan cute boy would be there). My mom and aunt figured it out that the next weekend would work better anyways. So off I went to the conference with my sister Elle, Camille, and Chloe Bennion.

We arrived and it looked so awkward we almost didn't want to get out of the car. After we got our food I saw the same guy from the weekend before. I "casually" walked by him while throwing away our garbage and said hi and luckily I remembered his name and he tells me that the reason he remembered mine was because of Hannah Montana. Well, lucky for him it worked.

We spent the whole weekend together and I was praying that he would get my number but I figured he wouldn't because I thought he was shy. We said goodbye and I thought that would be the end.

The first thing I said to my mom when I walked in the door when we got home was "I met my future husband this weekend." I was totally kidding but kind of serious. She was very confused so I explained about how I met the perfect guy but... he didn't get my number.

I am embarrassed to say that when he requested me on Facebook later that evening I literally jumped up and down out of joy. I took a chance and messaged him on Facebook and gave him my number and told him to text me sometime.

That same night my mom and sisters and I went to the Gloriana and Hunter Hayes concert. During the middle of my favorite song that Gloriana has I was getting a call from Lander, Wyoming?! What!! I have never moved so quickly in my life. I jumped up, ran down the stairs, and tried to get somewhere quiet to answer the phone. I admitted I was at a concert and would call him later.

The whole concert I was so nervous because my phone was going to die and I needed to call Garrett. Then I was worried because it was getting late and I needed to call him back. In other words I don't remember any of the songs or parts of the concert because I ended up leaving the concert early to go sit in the car to call him. (Best decision I ever made)

That night was the beginning to many long nights on the phone. We spent every night on the phone for no less than 2 hours and most of the time it was close to 3 or 4.

After a month of doing that he invited me to come see him over Labor Day weekend. He was already at school at Weber State so we would meet in Lander. My parents didn't actually think I would go but I was definitely serious. So I went and I met his family the first weekend while camping with them. Weird, I know but it was awesome. His family was awesome.

We had the best weekend and it felt like we had known each other for ever.
Four days later he came all the way from Utah to see me in Billings

After this we spent the whole fall semester doing long distance from Rexburg to Ogden traveling back and forth almost every weekend to see each other.

Then we did it again winter semester from Lander to Billings.

Long distance was so hard but so fun and so worth it!! We skyped, facetimed, wrote letters to each other, and texted constantly.

We got engaged February 29, 2014 and were married August 2, 2014 and the rest is history!
