On Tuesday morning we headed up to a cabin that Vince and Debbie rented right outside of Dubois for us to stay at for the week! It was so perfect because the boys could go riding and not have to spend 4 hours driving there each time. The cabin was so nice to our surprise! It had three bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, tvs, wifi, heat, and everything else that we needed or didn't need. On Tuesday after we got settled the boys went riding and us girls did a puzzle and played with Emmett.
Once the boys got back we were hungry and ready for our crab boil!! While we waited for it to be ready, Emmett opened his Christmas gifts from us and Debbie and Vince. We got him some new church clothes and they look SO cute on him! Pictures will be shown later in this post!
If you ask Emmett where his belly is he pulls up his shirt! So we were asking him where Uncle Garrett's belly is and he lifted up his shirt and would blow on it like Garrett is doing to Emmett! So funny and cute!
Crab boil might be one of my favorite meals because I love crab and shrimp! We don't use forks, plates, napkins, or anything! It is so fun and delicious!
*Whose pile is the biggest?*
After our crab boil and Emmett was sleeping we had our second Christmas! Debbie planned some fun Christmas games and we played a version of the White Elephant game but we had to roll three dots with the LCR dice before we could open or steal a gift! Garrett and I got a Maverick gift card and a Red Lobster gift card! Then we started opening gifts! Debbie and Vince got us a Christmas advent calendar that our kids will love someday! They got us the book The Infinite Atonement and a portable safe for all of our important documents! Garrett also got a hair cutting kit and they got me the rest of the things I needed for the the temple! We love all of it!
For sibling exchange this year it was just between us and Devin and Torrie so we just exchanged gifts! They got us so many fun games (scattegories, farkle, bounce off) and the best popcorn and drinks! I had made Debbie a calendar for Christmas with pictures of everyone in the family and Garrett and I were both so excited to give it to her in hopes that she would like it as much as we did! It was a little bit of work but we were so happy with the price and quality! We think that she liked it and just today Devin and Torrie got their's in the mail (they wanted one too) and Emmett wouldn't put it down! Overall, between both of our families we got SPOILED! We are so grateful!
After opening presents that night we played scattegories and I don't know what was happening, I think I was delirious but everything Garrett said was so funny and we couldn't help but laugh! We played many many games over the break and we loved it! Each night Devin and Torrie would go to bed and Garrett and I would stay up and play Rook with Debbie and Vince!
The next day was a big day! The boys were headed out to snow machine for the day and us girls and Emmett were headed to Jackson to go to the Elk Refuge!
After the Elk Refuge we hit up Wendy's to get our frosty key chains and eat some lunch and then we were back on the road!
It was an hour and a half drive to Jackson from the cabin but it was worth it! We were shocked to see the boys already back at the cabin when we were there! Garrett and I took a little walk around the neighborhood when we got back and it was so pretty! Mack chased some deer an joined us in all of our pictures.
We spent all our nights at the cabin having a little devotional and playing games! Everyone would go to bed a little early and Garrett and I would stay up and watch a show until it was our bedtime!
On New Years Eve Day we spent the morning hanging out inside playing phase ten with much smack talking and watching the thermometer waiting for it to warm up a little bit! Then we all got bundled up and headed for the sled hill! I can't help but giggle every time Emmett was in his snow suit walking around and trying to pick things up with his mittens on!
Not the best picture of us due to the sun!
After we were done sledding Garrett, Devin, Torrie and I went riding a little bit while Debbie and Vince stayed and played with Emmett! I'm sure I went WAY slower than Garrett's liking but stayed patient and so sweet all day! We had the best time and only got cold at the end!
*Me when my sled stopped working for a few minutes and Garrett went to get Devin*
This was right before and during my hands froze. Literally could not feel my hands or my toes for about 20 minutes. Thank you self timer on the iPhone.
When we got back it was time for dinner and we had prime rib that was delicious!! Basically everything was planned around meals and I wasn't complaining. The rest of the night the boys watched a football game, Debbie and I played rummikub and we worked on the puzzle a little bit! We didn't quite make it until midnight to ring in the New Year! Read about our 2015 recap.. HERE
New Years morning we got up and packed up and headed down the mountain and back to Lander. But first got some light reading in.
When we got back to Lander we unpacked, played some games, and then we went with Devin, Torrie, and Emmett to the church gym to run around a little bit. Then we all went and got adjusted! Later that night Garrett wanted to try out his new hair kit which meant I was up! It was quite stressful! I had no idea what I was doing and it went pretty good for the most part but Torrie saved the day by teaching me how to blend!
The finished product...
On Saturday we spent the day doing a little sledding, played A LOT of games, and the grandparents came over for dinner and we played LCR!
Garrett held Mack while snowboarding down the backyard, Devin, Torrie and Emmett almost ran into the fence, and Emmett had his first experience on a snowmobile!
Sunday was our last day with Devin, Torrie and Emmett and we were pretty sad about it!! It is so much fun spending time with them and making a relationship with Emmett! We learned this week that Garrett is quite the story teller and Emmett LOVES him especially when he speaks in weird voices at him! For Christmas we got Emmett new church clothes and he wore them on Sunday and looked pretty dang cute!! I couldn't stop saying that or thinking it all day! He is the cutest little guy!
He was cracking up both Saturday and Sunday night when he just wanted to lay on Mack, sit on him, and hug him! It was so funny!
The pictures below are so dang CUTE! His little smile and Garrett isn't too bad either!
We had time with everyone at the cabin and in Lander and are so grateful to have such great families! It was so hard to come back to school after such a great break!
