BEAR WORLD

A few weekends ago Garrett and I headed to Bear World! I have wanted to go since I’ve been in Rexburg for school but always thought it was too expensive and we just hadn’t gotten around to it. But because I drive by it everyday twice a day, I was really wanting to go. I heard on the radio that it was Cub-Palooza and that we would be able to see baby bears AND it would be half off so we jumped on it and went!

It was so fun! After we paid, we drove past mountain goats, elk, including and albino bull elk, bison, and deer scattered here and there.

Those animals were a little warm up before entering through another gate into the bear territory! Going into Bear World I was expecting like 5 bears. Well maybe a few more but I wasn’t really sure what to expect. THERE WERE SO MANY BEARS. They warned us and said, “Don’t stop your car or roll down your windows or the bears with climb on your car and try to get in.” We didn’t really believe that at first and then we realized they were telling the truth.

But anyways, back to all the bears. We weaved around the area driving 5 miles an hour and with bears walking around everywhere. Some were climbing trees, others were scratching their backs on the trees, and others were walking around or climbing on half buried culverts. We couldn’t get over how big they were and how many. The teenage like bears were a little funny looking because they are quite scrawny with long faces.

Towards the end of the road there was a HUGE black bear sleeping. So we broke the rules and rolled down the window so I could get a picture. As soon as I started clicking, he woke up and stared at us and I jumped and told Garrett to hurry and roll the window up!

After we left the gated area we headed into the gift shop looking for fudge. We heard that you would get fudge samples and Garrett was expecting a huge chunk when in reality it was just a tiny sliver. You could say he was more than disappointed. After he got over it, we headed out to the petting zoo and to see the baby cubs! Oh my goodness were they so cute! We just stood and stared forever at
them. I wanted to be the person in there hanging out with them.

The petting zoo was calling our names so we went in there to pet all the animals. The pig was my personal favorite. He made me work for a picture with him as you can see below he was running from me.

Garrett was the deer whisperer. The deer for some reason thought that he had food so he was sniffing him all over the place. Garrett just kept saying, “We just pet a deer.” Garrett also stepped on a momma duck that was sitting on her eggs and she tried to bite him, which was probably deserved.

We had a great time and will definitely try to go again before we leave Rexburg in July!
